HELP! WHY IS MY RUG SHEDDING EVERYWHERE?

July 9, 2014

Imagine throwing a party and inviting a number of your closest family and friends into your home. Everyone appears to be having a good time – at first – until the rug you recently purchased for your living room begins to “shed” wool fuzz. The wool balls from the rug gather into piles in the middle of the room, coming out in large globs. Before long, it’s all over your guests’ feet. It’s making their way onto other parts of the floor. Even your little dog’s paws are full of the stuff!

Not the kind of way you’d like your guests to remember the evening, is it?

If you’ve experienced this type of shedding in one of your rugs, there’s a good reason for it: It typically happens when the wool is of a bad quality, coming from sheep that are dead. Since the wool is extremely dry and lacking in lanolin, it breaks off easy.

In other words, it goes back to the old adage, “You get what you pay for.” Sure, there are plenty of inexpensive rugs. But if you buy an inexpensive rug that is not well constructed or made from good quality fiber, you’re going to find out the hard way by being inconvenienced.

Although a higher quality rug may have some light initial shedding at first, the difference is that in this type of better quality rug, the shedding will subside. In a poor quality rug, it won’t stop shedding anytime soon. In fact, it will shed forever.

We believe you can have the best of both worlds – an economical product that will also wear well over time. All backed by people who are meticulous about following up after the sale to ensure it’s a product that’s meeting your expectations for the long run too.

So get rid of that rug that’s filling your home with fur balls and trust our expertise at HC Nahigian to guide you to a higher quality rug from our showroom that you’ll be proud to show off for years to come. After all, being in business for 99 years, we know a thing or two about longevity too. Call 847.676.2500 or email info@nahigian.com.
